DNV validates NeuraCharge™ battery dispatch and optimization technology, reinforcing Edgecom’s readiness to expand beyond Canada into the U.S.
TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA, August 6, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Today, Edgecom Energy announced that its NeuraCharge™ platform has passed an independent Red Flag Review conducted by DNV, the global assurance and risk management organization, with no red flags identified. The review is one of the energy industry’s most rigorous forms of third-party technology assessment, and it is widely relied on by lenders, investors and utilities evaluating energy software before it is deployed at scale.
DNV was commissioned by Edgecom Energy to assess NeuraCharge™, an Energy Resource Management System, or ERMS, that automates dispatch and optimization for distributed energy resources, including battery energy storage systems, or BESS. The review centered on the readiness of NeuraCharge™ to support front-of-the-meter (FTM) battery storage participation in Ontario’s wholesale electricity markets under the Independent Electricity System Operator’s (IESO) Long-Term 1 (LT1) procurement program.
“No red flags identified,” DNV concluded in its final report, stating that NeuraCharge™ provides a strong and credible operational foundation for FTM BESS participation and that its remaining development items do not represent barriers to near-term commercial operation.
What DNV Reviewed
DNV evaluated NeuraCharge™ against a purpose-built operational capability framework covering market intelligence, dispatch optimization and strategy, market operations, remote dispatch and monitoring, operational reporting, market settlement, and operational support and compliance, rating each area from already proven in live deployments to still in development.
Several core capabilities were found to be demonstrated in live commercial use across Ontario and Alberta, including dispatch scheduling, controller integration, one-second SCADA and telemetry ingestion, real-time dashboards, and around-the-clock monitoring through Edgecom’s Toronto-based network operations center. DNV also rated the platform’s forecasting capabilities as Demonstrated, pointing to 12-day probabilistic peak forecasting from pTrack®, which has since expanded to day-ahead pricing, locational marginal pricing, and bid strategy development.
A Differentiator in a Growing Market
DNV’s report found that NeuraCharge™ shows a more advanced level of Ontario market specialization than comparable platforms it has evaluated. The combination of IESO-specific forecasting and optimization workflows, Energy Market Participant registration, and an established operating track record for distributed energy resources gives Edgecom a meaningful edge as Ontario’s utility-scale battery storage market takes shape.
Expanding Beyond Canada
NeuraCharge™ is currently operating in Ontario, under the IESO, and in Alberta, under the Alberta Electric System Operator. Edgecom has already secured approvals from the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and expects to bring NeuraCharge™ into the PJM Interconnection once licensing is complete, with a market-agnostic architecture built for future deployment across other U.S. grid operators, including the New York ISO, ISO New England and the Midcontinent ISO.
