O’Reilly, a knowledge company delivering the expertise that drives business outcomes, today announced the launch of Expert Intelligence, an organization-wide suite of tools that grounds enterprise AI in O’Reilly’s deep repository of practitioner knowledge and calls on job-specific agent skills to generate actionable guidance for real-world work, verified through citations from named authors.
As organizations move beyond AI experimentation and begin relying on AI-assisted tools to make consequential business decisions, the limitations of generalist large language models are harder to ignore. A generalist LLM blends everything it has ever read into one confident voice, so it’s often difficult to determine whether a source is credible or still relevant. According to an O’Reilly benchmark conducted in February 2026 across 60 questions drawn from live production traffic, approximately one in five claims made by leading AI tools are unsupported by a cited source, while roughly two-thirds of cited sources name no author at all, and about half carry no publication date.
The Expert Intelligence toolkit addresses this gap by providing a direct, secure connection to O’Reilly’s curated knowledge base—ensuring that every response is traceable to a named expert and a confirmed date of publication.
“Eighteen months ago, it was all about how to get engineers to be more productive, but now it’s about how to get organizations to make better decisions,” said Andrew Odewahn, CTO of O’Reilly. “The engineering tasks are moving away from coding output to planning. O’Reilly’s Expert Intelligence is built for exactly that shift.”
Expert Intelligence is delivered through two core components:
- Expert MCP—A Model Context Protocol (MCP)-compatible connector that pulls vetted guidance directly from O’Reilly’s expert knowledge repository into the AI tools teams already use. Setup requires no new platform, no new interface, and no per-seat licensing.
- Agent skills—Prebuilt expert-backed skill sets that equip AI agents to reliably perform specific real-world jobs, from drafting architectural decision records to building threat models to creating 30-60-90-day onboarding plans.
Together, these tools allow engineers, architects, and organizational leaders to use Expert Intelligence to de-risk decisions, compare implementation approaches, forecast project delivery, plan production-ready AI deployments, and more—all grounded in frameworks and guidance from credentialed O’Reilly authors and instructors.
O’Reilly launched Expert Intelligence in July 2026 to select customers. The company is now publicly accepting founding members, offering 12 months of company-wide access to Expert Intelligence for a flat fee. Founding membership includes:
- Uncapped usage across the entire organization
- Access for every employee—no per-seat licensing
- A direct line to the O’Reilly product team, with founding member feedback directly shaping the product roadmap
- Setup and adoption support
Because Expert Intelligence lives inside the AI tools organizations already use, there is no new platform to learn or roll out. Every employee has access from day one. For those interested in becoming a founding member, visit https://www.oreilly.com/online-learning/expert-intelligence.html.
