Seven U-Haul® Companies announced Tuesday they are offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box® container use at 92 centers — 88 in Ohio — to help residents affected by severe weather.

Heavy rainfall began early Tuesday and continued throughout the day, with flash flooding reported across much of the state. Columbus and Dayton are among the areas hit the hardest.

“Pretty much the entire state is under a flood watch,” stated Anthony Jones, U-Haul Area District Vice President for Ohio. “We’ve seen pictures of cars underwater. We know many Ohioans will be dealing with water damage on their properties and need to protect their belongings. We just want them to know we are here to help if they need it.”

Access to self-storage units and portable storage containers is essential to communities when natural disasters strike. U-Haul is ready to help anyone affected by the flooding who needs a secure storage solution at no cost for one month.

The 30 days free offer applies to new self-storage and U-Box rentals and is based on availability. The U-Box offer is for on-site storage at participating facilities; delivery is available for a modest fee.
