FULTON, MO, UNITED STATES, August 11, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — First Baptist Church Fulton has called Charlie Moulton as its new Senior Pastor, beginning a new chapter in the life of the historic Fulton congregation.
Moulton officially began serving as Senior Pastor on August 2, 2026, following the church’s call for him to lead FBC Fulton into its next season of ministry.
“This is more than a job or a move for me—it is a calling,” Moulton said. “I believe God very clearly brought Monica and me to Fulton for this season of our lives. We are grateful to be here, and I’m excited not only to pastor First Baptist Church but to become part of this community.”
Moulton brings a unique combination of pastoral, denominational and executive leadership experience to FBC Fulton. Before entering vocational ministry, he served as a senior-level executive in the corporate world, an experience that helped shape his approach to organizational leadership, developing people and building healthy teams.
After answering God’s call to pastoral ministry, Moulton spent nearly two decades in senior pastoral leadership. His ministry also extended beyond the local church when he was elected President of the California Southern Baptist Convention, serving Southern Baptist churches across the state.
Despite those leadership experiences, Moulton says the heart of his calling remains simple: love people, make disciples and faithfully preach the Word of God.
Central to Moulton’s ministry is a commitment to expository preaching—an approach built upon the conviction that the point of the biblical text should be the point of the sermon.
“I don’t believe a pastor’s primary responsibility on Sunday morning is to tell people what he thinks,” Moulton said. “My responsibility is to open the Bible, explain what God has said and help people understand how His Word speaks into the realities of their lives.”
As he begins his ministry at FBC Fulton, Moulton says he has a deep appreciation for the generations who have faithfully served the church while carrying a strong conviction that the church must continue reaching new generations.
“I have tremendous respect for the people who have loved, served, prayed, given and sacrificed to make First Baptist Church what it is today,” Moulton said. “We want to honor that legacy. And one of the greatest ways we can honor those who came before us is by carrying that same gospel to the generations coming behind us.”
Moulton hopes FBC Fulton will increasingly become a multigenerational church where children, students, young adults, families and senior adults worship, serve and grow together.
“We don’t have to choose between honoring one generation and reaching another,” Moulton said. “The church should be a family. There is something beautiful about generations worshiping Jesus together, learning from one another and serving alongside one another.”
Moulton describes the church’s ministry strategy with three priorities: evangelize, disciple and train leaders.
“We want to reach people with the gospel, help people grow as followers of Jesus and train leaders who can help others follow Jesus,” Moulton said. “Church cannot simply be about filling a building on Sunday morning. We want to see people meet Jesus, lives changed, families strengthened and disciples made.”
Moulton also wants those who may have little or no connection to a church to know they are welcome at FBC Fulton.
“You don’t have to get your life together before you walk through the doors of a church,” Moulton said. “Come with your questions. Come if you’ve been hurt. Come if life hasn’t turned out the way you expected. Come if you haven’t been inside a church in 20 years. There is a place for you here.”
Moulton and his wife, Monica, are making their home in the area and look forward to becoming part of the community.
First Baptist Church Fulton gathers for worship each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at 701 Court Street in Fulton, Missouri. The community is invited to attend.
