On Tap Credit Union Scholarship Recipient Nate Peters
The credit union’s new Youth promotion begins today and runs through Labor Day, designed to help local students build foundational financial habits while offering direct assistance for school supply costs.
To support families navigating seasonal classroom expenses, On Tap Credit Union is incentivizing early financial literacy through a targeted youth savings and checking campaign. Starting today, parents, guardians, and young adults can utilize the promotional code ‘YOUTH’ when opening or adding qualifying features to a youth account.
The incentive is delivered in the form of a $50 school supply gift card powered by the Giftogram platform. Rather than restricting rewards to a single retailer, this system allows families to redeem their $50 credit across hundreds of national digital storefronts, adapting to specific classroom checklists, technical gear, or clothing needs. Full eligibility terms, account setup requirements, and application portals are hosted directly on the dedicated On Tap Credit Union Youth Accounts Landing Page.
In addition, the credit union offers banking solutions crafted for kids of all ages:
- Brewster Savings Club, a foundational tool requiring an initial $5 deposit, designed to introduce elementary and middle-school-aged children with access to all resources to start building healthy financial habits that will last a lifetime.
- Peak Tiered Savings, which currently earns a premium rate of 2.75% APY. Unlike traditional savings accounts, this account gives the highest rate on the lowest tiers. That means members earn a better rate of return on lower balances, while still earning a competitive rate on higher balances.
-
Youth Certificates, which includes a 2-month certificate with dividends earned and compounded monthly based on average daily balance. This program requires $25 minimum to open with unlimited additional deposits.
On Tap Credit Union also offers free teen checking accounts for kids who are 13 through 17 years of age and help with planning for the future, like student loans for college and other educational opportunities.
The credit union has also recognized the academic and civic achievements of two local high school graduates, Nate Peters and Carter Taylor, as the recipients of its annual community scholarships. Student members are chosen who mirror the institution’s commitment to community advocacy and local community support. This year, the credit union’s review board selected two regional graduates heading into specialized fields of study.
Nate Peters, a graduate of Golden High School, has been recognized for his active community advocacy concerning textile production and environmental policy. Peters focused his background on identifying the global environmental impacts of mass-market manufacturing and “fast fashion.”
Moving into his post-secondary education at the University of Colorado Boulder, Peters plans to launch an on-campus pop-up educational initiative. This student-led platform will focus on educating peers on corporate sustainability.
Carter Taylor, a graduate of Clear Creek High School, has been selected for their dual focus on healthcare volunteerism and representation in creative media. Taylor’s artistic advocacy centers on expanding the visibility of marginalized and underrepresented demographics within contemporary fiction and narrative illustration.
Beyond their creative portfolio, Taylor co-manages a charity organization with their parents that supports a local hospice home in Evergreen and a scholarship program for graduated students entering trade programs. Taylor is continuing their technical education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
