Instead of a human, a user’s preferred AI assistant reads the library, decides which moments matter, assembles the sequence, picks visual effects, generates whatever footage is missing and renders the file, while the user describes the film they want in plain language.

Optimized for Apple Silicon
GroundSlate is built exclusively for Apple Silicon, leveraging the MLX framework to fully utilize the next generation of Macs. It is optimized specifically for the high-performance hardware capabilities of the latest Mac mini and Mac Studio models with larger shared memory, but will work with any M-Series Mac that has at least 16GB of shared memory.

Local AI Media Generation
GroundSlate generates AI video, music, sound effects and speech on the device, leveraging leading open source models. Users can clone a voice from a short sample or design a new one, synthesize narration in that voice, generate a shot that was never filmed, score a sequence to a music bed that ducks automatically beneath the narration, and drive a character’s mouth and expression to a recorded take. Each generated asset enters the library with a provenance record showing the model, the prompt and the seed that made it. GroundSlate also allows AI agents to store assets generated from AI media cloud providers, giving end users the ability to combine frontier models with local models within the same application.

Local AI Analysis
The application indexes everything into a searchable open catalog: transcripts with word-level timing, scene descriptions sampled as finely as every quarter second, the people who appear, music maps of beats and sections, and location and time metadata. An assistant can then find footage the way a person remembers it, searching for what was said, who was on camera, where a clip was shot and when, and getting exact time windows back rather than whole clips. GroundSlate uses JSON and markdown to store file information in an open catalog that any agent can understand and act upon.
